Networking Everyday Jobs Out of Your Community
By Ramona Lucero
At the height of the Coronavirus -19 pandemic in April of 2020, the U.S. economy had lost approximately 20.6 million jobs and reached a 14.7 percent unemployment rate according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The jobs report in January 2021 shows a slight decrease in unemployment from the previous quarter to 6.3 percent (BLS, 2021); however, the trend for this month, March 2021, shows a slightly higher rate. What does this mean for you? How would get an everyday-job to get on going or even find a career job? Have you been looking for part-time or full time work? Have you been checking out job sites such as Indeed, Monster, and MoreWithUs — Everyday Jobs? Have you thought of small jobs in your community?
Do not despair. In these troubling economic times, there are still jobs out there in your community, but they are harder to find. People are still in need of workers who do Everyday-Jobs such as maintenance and cleaning, snow removal, handyman repair services, automotive, landscaping and lawn services, child-care, tutoring services and much more. Most of these jobs are always in high demand but can vary from season to season but the problem is always finding workers who can perform the task. Some of these jobs can actually pay well. Even more, you can build relations that can land you a good part-time or full time job with local businesses.
One example from the recent polar storm was an elderly lady who lives in a retirement community, Mrs. Garduno. Like many people in the community, Mrs. Garduno lives alone and has trouble keeping up with the rules of the local Home Owners Association (HOA). She needs her snow shoveled during the winter, her lawn cut during the summer, the sprinkler systems shut on and off at the proper times, and her trash taken out to the curbside weekly. Her problem is that she has trouble finding a capable person to get the job done and there are many of her friends that have the same dilemma and live across the street. If you are a high schooler, a college student, or simply someone who likes to help people and make some money, these are great opportunities.
The way we used to get these jobs is by networking the jobs out of your community. The most common way to network these jobs is by word-of-mouth, job boards, through social clubs, and events but those methods are slow and ineffective. MoreWithUs — Everyday Jobs has discovered that the most effective way to network the jobs out of your community is by bringing employers and employees together on one job site that is available to everyone; a digital job and candidates board. All that you need to do is to create a free jobs profile at MoreWithUs.com and people and businesses in your community who need your skills will contact you directly. A jobs profile is simply to make and effective in getting you a job. Check out this video for how to make your MoreWithUs jobs profile — https://youtu.be/Gr5wL8CHhwk.
